Bought and Sold

by Auld Spells

/
1.
Will the water rich the valley before the fire does When the oceans rise and take all of us When the final glacier’s melted and the end’s more than begun The men will gather up all of their guns When there’s nothing left in this world that can be owned Men will find a way to be bought and sold Now the future’s faded to the dread that past had warned Every warning left tortured and scorned Breathe a breath of poisoned air and the wells have all run dry Any reason to keep profits high When there’s nothing left in this world that can be owned Men will find a way to be bought and sold And the part that’s most confusing makes so much sense How they killed themselves with their own mess

about

After successfully releasing 10 songs throughout 2020-2021, Auld Spells are back with a new single, Bought and Sold.

Lyrically, Bought and Sold is at its core protest song about humanity’s bizarre addiction to destroying the earth for temporary individual profit. Musically, the song is both heavily influenced by folk rock pioneers like Neil Young and The Byrds and by the sounds of dreamy psychedelia of bands like Spiritualized, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Deerhunter.

Vic Galloway of BBC Scotland calls Auld Spells “my kind of soundtrack”.

Ian Corbridge from Louder Than War has said Auld Spells are “definitely one of the most exciting new bands I have come across for some time”.
